Principal's Message

August 6, 2019

To the students and parents of WHS:

I’m extremely excited to start the 2019-2020 school year with a motivation and energy that sets our positive direction. It is a privilege and honor to know that our staff has the opportunity to shape our young students as we prepare each individual for the real world. I look forward to meeting and working with each of you as the school year unfolds.

Our mission is to support your child academically, emotionally and socially. It is our desire that students feel comfortable and safe, while constantly challenging themselves to always reach their highest potential. I set High Expectations for students, staff and myself, so prepare yourself to walk the Westland Way. Students will be challenged and empowered to carry out our motto to be Respectful – Organized – Accountable – Responsible. ROAR Cougars ROAR!

Academically, our mission is to foster an environment whereby students have specific goals and a plan for post-graduation success. This includes, but is not limited to, attending a two or four-year college, enlisting for military service, or joining the workforce. High school students have more access to college curriculum than ever before, and the best part is it’s FREE. Speak with a counselor or administrator about college classes that would be appropriate for you or your child. It’s imperative that you take advantage of this opportunity.

My office is always open. Never hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns at the office phone (614)851-7000.
