Dear Cougar Families,
As we enter into winter, it’s hard to believe the first semester of the 2019-2020 school year is coming to an end. Through many classroom visits, it’s apparent that the consistent implementation of our District’s Framework for Learning is the daily focus as teachers work with our students. Quality staff professional development is planned using our District’s Framework as a guide, with a student-centered concentration. Students are being prepared for tomorrow, next year, and life beyond Westland High School. Our EOC assessments (make-ups) are in place for December so be sure to send your students to school and ask questions if you are uncertain about State Assessments.
College application deadlines are quickly approaching; seniors should make sure they are using Naviance, our College & Career Readiness tool, to help navigate choices, and submit applications and letters of recommendation. Underclassmen should use Naviance to explore options in preparation for the future. Parents may also access their student’s Naviance accounts. If you do not have your Naviance Family Connection account information, please contact our School Counselors.
As always, please encourage your students to do everything they can to be successful throughout the first semester. Attendance is crucial at this time of year. My office is always open. Never hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns at (614) 851-7000.
